Rex Allen White, like many other pioneers of racing, was born in the Deep South where moonshine running abounded. In Taylorsville, North Carolina where he grew up, he would lie awake at night and listen to the sounds of cars roaring through the night, running liquor. He was amazed at how the drivers could maneuver around curves and steep mountain turns and how they modified their cars to handle such speeds.
I needed to get the Nomad over to Forrestville so that Mark and the team at Safety Service Centre could pull the engine and gearbox. We turn up at Forrestville three hours late and I've just blown off the entire day for the price of a beer. I don't know how many times I have made a choice on price and then in hindsight ask myself what was I thinking. |

Waterproof, windproof, and breathable clothing is an innovation no one should be without, especially out in the rain. When rain gear is made out of squaltex fabric you do not have to worry about those scratching sounds when you walk or rub up against a bush or a tree. Imagine living in a world where the laws that you have to live by, are changed every night while you are sleeping. Each day would be a challenge to find out what rules should govern your behavior. Chances are you would be confused and inadvertently break rules for which you would be unjustly punished. Dogs are often subjected to that environment of changing rules of behavior. They become easily confused by contradictions and suffer unjust punishments as a result. Eventually, they become unresponsive, even aggressive. |
